I have finally taken ownership of the '93 red, white and blue FZR600, and after a week of waiting anxiously I am happy to report that it was worth the waiting game. This purchase is quickly becoming my little, modern rocket-ship.
With 30,000 miles on the clock, this FZR still looks fantastic and has aged quite well. The transmission shifts smoothly, and the motor pulls hard all the way up the tachometer. The plastics are all present with minimal scuffing and cracking over the years. The paint is still beautiful (myself and a few friends were admiring it in the sunshine this afternoon). Overall it needs a good degreasing as years of grime have been layered upon some of the surfaces, but the machine as a whole is clean and seemingly well-maintained. New tires, sprockets and a drive chain have been replaced, and remaining on the to-do list is an oil change, brake flush, radiator flush and cleaning, as well as the possibility of a carb synch. I'm sure other gremlins will make themselves known in the coming miles but for now I am going to enjoy the smile Yamaha has put on my face; I've completed close to 300 very happy miles in the past 24 hours...
