The front fender is wrong so it will need replaced. The rear fenders on most of these smaller Honda's had a mud flap.

After reading this comment, I had another look at your CB160 picture and think the other item "wrong" on it that you were originally referring to, is the front fender.  It looks pretty good, but I believe the original projected more from the brackets, and covered more of the tire as a result.

Most everybody missed that one HN. Sticks right out doesn't it.

Good job. Again.

Title says its a 1966.Looks like somebody tried to beat the piston out of it before I got it,looks like it was rusted/seized and broke the piston and cylinder skirt with excessive force. Original head is dirty but might be good, have a friend to check it out well sometime. Other pic shows the fresh 110 stuff they had invested in to 'big bore' the top end. Still have their old receipts from 2002. Guess they did not realize their was an offset for the carb and exhaust for that year and not their new stuff. They actually never picked the bike or parts back up from the place that did the work but just dropped off the title and left it back then. Seems the person who did the work should have known there may be a mismatch. Guy threw it in the deal when I bought a K0  and 2-1972 Gt750 Suzuki's this spring.
Probably sell the 110 stuff sometime to get the correct parts that this one needs. Very low priority for me at this time, maybe a good project when the snow is deep to fiddle with.

Good Lord, the things people do.  :o Doesn't fit, beat it to death.

The 68 is a long way off for me also. Since it's down to the frame and most all the parts are there I thought maybe a 110 cc kit would be fun. I'll have to check into that kit.

Actually TT it doesn't really "stick out" as wrong from the pictures, but I suppose in real life it would look minimal on the front tire.

A few years ago I had this copy, which had been beautifully done-up in a powder coated frame, Honda candy red, and clear-coated paint.  The transmission and speedo had also been changed from stock to match the 5-speed cluster from a later 175cc that had been installed.  I finished it off with the missing headlight rim and bulb, a new un-scarred dyno cover, and a new fresh mudflap that isn't in this picture.  I also put some pods on it as the original filters were not present (they hid up under the side panels).  The pistons were of unknown (to me) size and were supposed to be Wiseco origin, and with them and the pods I was never happy with the tune.  However, I did ride it a bit on the road and it was a blast...the 5-speed was nice but the internal shift linkage weak and failed/slipped once to let me down.

I sold this CB160 a few years ago.  The "chicken hawk" is a nice complement to the Super Hawk that I rode in the 1960's and still have. ;)

Very nice! No, the CB160 will remain stock. The black S90, well, to be announced.

I have heard two terms, Baby Hawk and Chicken Hawk. Which was it?

I have not ever verified if a swap like that is even possible but I guess he thought so at the time.

Both terms were used.  The second was more derogatory. ;)

Good to hear that you intend to keep it stock.  Although there are a number of things that can be done to pretty it up (e.g. paint, chrome, cafe), keeping it original is the most appreciated in my view.  Its a small bike by today's standards and as such probably not to be ridden much but rather enjoyed for what it was.  As much as I like seeing what customizing can do to to an older bike, I really drool at pristine original examples.  Then I like looking for those points that aren't original or not perfect. :D

I have a friend who used to work as a youngster at a small Honda dealer back when these machines first came out.  One of his jobs was to un-crate the new bikes and assemble them for sale.  He remembers assembling the first CB160 that they had received.  His ride at the time was the CB65, so he drooled over this one.  They let him take it down the road for a test ride when he had it assembled, and he promptly ran out of gas...it seemed like a heavy bike to push back to the shop. ;D

I am in to stock as much as possible. I order all screws, bolts and even washers if they are available. I have a two page order already in. Mostly screws, bolts, washers. I always replace the case screws although some of the longer ones (35/40mm) are long out of stock.

My part boxes of various items is pretty full. I save them all. Comes in handy.

Dr ATV sells a larger bore piston that gives you 108cc, but you need to bore your cylinder.   AFIAK, there are no big-bore cylinder kits available for the S90/CL90 motor, and the 110cc one (I'm assuming you're talking CT110) wont' fit.

Lifan also sells a nice motor.

Well, like I said. It will be a year from now if not longer before I do anything with the 68 model. Might rebuild, might sell as a roller.

Terry (firepowerminis.net) builds a killer bored-out YX160 too.   I had him build a 201cc beast for my Madass 125 (use as an RV bike).   Now that bike is damned near as fast as my CB360, but weighs a lot less.

Back to the stock S90 motor....
He does porting/polishing too.   He claims to be able to double the stock output of the stock S90 with a big bore, headwork, and a bigger carb (presumably different exhaust too).

Another option is the Daytona Anima 190.   I really like that it has a programmable CDI (for ignition mapping).   They're less money that my 201cc YX cost me, but they were not available when I had that built.    I would certainly go that route if doing it again today.

Don't lay awake nights. Won't even start it until late 2014! I might send in the motor during the hot months if I can figure out how to ship it.

16 HP in that bike would be a kick!

If you pulled the cylinder and studs it might fit in two boxes. Expanding foam in the plastic bag can keep it from destroying the box from movement.
Would a cb100 or 125 flow enough for 16bhp? Just wondering what size exhaust it would need to be a bit of a sleeper...chromed exhaust would look best. Twin exhaust handled the 20 bhp of the cb175.

Cold front? Is that like rain?

jas<< keep your eye out for a rear flap for the CB160. It looks like I have everything else.

tt

Will do.    You do realize that I have two CB160's of my own, and no mud flaps.   Just saying...  ;)

So, you'll definitely get the third one that I find.   ;D

That is another part that I wish David Silver Spares would make.

Found a supplier for the rear mud flap. Stay tuned as he has not posted them on the web site yet. (and I want mine first  :P )

Just the flap. Thankfully I have the brackets. They carry the front foot peg rubber also. Another parts order.

Still looking for handle bar as the one on it is slightly bent. Not sure if I can get it back. Bike is not here yet but other than paint, tires and battery I will have everything.

Anis at Tenavintage.com can supply nice used mudflaps and bracket for the S90, I bought one from him for my S90.  Not sure if they can get new mudflaps, but worth exploring ...best part, price was reasonable, just shipping takes a while. Want his email address?

Absolutely -- might as well ask for it all!

BTW, check http://www.hondatwins.net/forum/ for stuff like NOS footpeg rubber, service parts, etc.     They've got great prices, though shipping is a little high.    The shipping is well worth it for larger orders though.
