SOHCers,
I mentioned in a previous thread (where I was having idling problems) that I was finishing a cosmetic restore of a CB750. Well, that restore is complete, so here are some photos of the before and after. Mechanically, the bike was in good shape when I got it, but the paint job and other items (controls, seat, wiring, etc...) I wanted to work on. Here is a quick list of what was done:
- Had the gas tank sandblasted and I repainted it a Candy Gold.
- New side covers (bought them from the forum member Frankenstuff. High quality, recommended).
- New gas tank trim and gas cap.
- New gauge faces and backplates.
- New mirrors
- New 4 into 4 exhaust (HM341, not HM300 pipes -- my budget was not unlimited!).
- New taillight unit.
- Had the purple fenders blasted and powdercoated in a chrome color. Up close you can tell, but from a distance it looks pretty good. I will probably have them rechromed this winter or buy replacement pieces, but this was quicker
- New shocks.
- New center stand.
- New seat cover and new seat padding.
- Correct hand grips for the K1.
- New wiring harness and starter switch, moved it back to the correct spot.
- New left hand controls, new right hand controls, new master brake cylinder.
- New turn signals front and back.
- New side reflectors.
- New airbox.
I'm sure a few other things as well. Note: The pictures only show one mirror, the bike has both but I had not put the right one back on when I took the pictures. It's there now.
Thanks to everybody on this forum for all your help. The questions I asked were always answered and just by searching the forums I found tons of information to help me with this project. Thanks again.
