How to Test Flasher Relay?
« on: July 07, 2013, 10:10:07 PM »
Hey Guys!
So my turn signals stay lit and wont blink and I'm trying to figure out if I need a new flasher relay. Is there an easy way I can test to see if this is the problem. I don't feel like chasing ground wires right now. But I may have to if the flash relay is working. Thanks.

Cost me $4 for a new one and about 30 secs to install it. It was the flasher. Can't think of an easier and much cheaper test than that.

+1, replace the unit. your time is worth more than a replacement flasher. Upgrade to solid state while you are at it and if you decide to try LED bulbs you shouldn't need to worry about adding resistors.

Ok, so I purchased the relay. My next question is which wire goes to which connection. The new flasher relay has two prongs. One marked positive and the other lamp.

I believe it is light purple + and dark green light.

You should update your signature to include the year and model of your bike.

oops yeah that would help  ;D. its a 74 cb750. There is a black and grey wire. The manual I have is in black n' white so it's hard to trace the connections. It seems the grey wire attaches the the turn signal switch and the black to the bulbs???

Try them on both ways. It will only work one way and you won't hurt it by getting them reversed. I think Bankerdanny needs more light, they are grey and black.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

OK just making sure I wont mess up the relay by connecting them the wrong way.
