Oil pump maintenance
« on: July 08, 2013, 10:16:02 AM »
If there is a brief walkthrough of this, I couldn't find it. Do I need to take my oil pump apart (while I have the rest of the bike apart) and do any sort of maintenance? It seems like replacing o rings is popular, but I couldn't tell if that was only in response to leaks (which I don't have). Also, for the tube that connects to the screen, can I just use a piece of fuel line or something like that? Anything special needed there?

if its a 500/550 it wouldnt hurt to dismantle the pressure relief valve and de sludge it,and itll be satisfying to know its all clean inside, use a hose thatll handle hot oil, very hot oil.

I always run oil through mine to keep it from rusting.   :P
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.
