I wasn't planning on doing a whole lot to my bike when I originally got it but that is changing now. I'm getting into one of those "well I've done this, I may as well do this and this too" scenarios. There were a few things I needed to do (new tires, brakes, and some cables) and since I've had the bike out of commission doing those things I've started piling more on my plate, like a new seat, painting the tank, etc. So I figured I may as well make a little build thread, mostly for my own amusement, and possibly for anyone else who wanders here.
So, I bought the bike about 9 months ago, 1978 CB750K...
Pretty much stock, in nice shape, swapped the bars for clubmans...
and rode it like this for a while, got a different tank...
The brakes were getting worn and the tires weren't far behind so and there were a few other things I needed to address so in April I brought it in to a buddys garage to start getting this stuff taken care of...
While working on replacing the pads and flushing/bleeding the brakes I stripped the already peeling paint from the calipers to the bare metal and sprayed a few coats of clear to help keep it from rusting, it's not beautiful but I think it looks better lol...
Once the brakes were put back together, I replaced my throttle cables and got the new tires on.
The clubmans were a little uncomfortable on longer rides and they barely cleared the tank so I decided to switch it up to some renthals, I'm digging the look and more importantly they seem like they'll be way more comfortable, once I get the bike back on the road I'll have a better report on that though...
This just wont do...
Ok, now we're getting somewhere, got the back end chopped as well as trimmed off the seat lock...
Mocking up the seat hoop I got from Harisuluv...
and this is about where I'm at now...
Progress is pretty slow right now, got some things around the house I need to spend money on before getting back to the bike, but I'm excited to get her back on the road. I'm going to take a stab a making a seat, paint the tank, build an exhaust, and hopefully not get in too much farther over my head.
