Topic: unstoppable oil leak !!! HELP!

Hey Guys, I have replaced my alternator gasket.It has a nice oil tight seal.I have replaced my transmission gasket,also a nice seal.Inbetween the two diferent gaskets  is a 1cm air gap and that is where my oil literally pours out when it gets hot.Anybody got any experience with this? cheers

sounds like you have something missing  was it doing this before you changed your gaskets? anyone else have any ideas?  mick.

gday,everything is there.Only changed gaskets.to much oil for seepage.There is a small machined and counter sunk hole about half way up the alternator case closest to back of bike,I didnt think the alternator was supose to fill with oil ,so i suspect this is some sort of breather hole .you can only see it when you take the transmission cover off.I wonder if this is it?

...unless I'm mistaken, there is oil in/behind the alternator cover.  Not sure how much or if muc pressure is there, but oil does live there...

The rubber blocks that hold the stator and field coil wires are not sealing. It is common. Remove the transmission cover and clean the area around the blocks and the blocks REALLY WELL with brake cleaner. Get some Hi Temp silicone (red or copper color) and apply it around the blocks, engine case and cover- don't over do it. In the future put some silicone between the blocks and around the perimeter of the blocks before you install a gasket. Also make sure your starter O ring is good.

Ya, I think MRieck is right on.  I had the same problem, the little rubber piece that feeds the alternator wires through the cover needs to be fitted just right.  I got some non-silicon high temp liquid gasket stuff at orielly's and put some just in that region.  That seemed to clear it up.  (This was also the advise given to me by our local Honda dealer mechanic)
