sticky clutch
« on: July 10, 2013, 06:29:44 PM »
Hi Gang,

I am having an issue with with my 400f and a clutch that drags when I stop. I am pretty certain the lever and adjustments are correct so I am not suspecting the plates themselves. There does not seem to be much rust so I am going to check for warpage?  What is the tolerance these can be out but still be ok? I have read up to a few thousands? I am going to check on a granite surface plate with shims. Also I have read that soda blasting helps with "sticksion" ?? Is that accurate?    One more thing to note. I accidently used an automotive oil and ran the bike for a day or so before dumping that out and switching to Belray EXL 10-40. Could this have doomed my clutch??  what else should I be looking for?

Thanks!

Jason

One more thing to add. I've been told that the steel plates are supposed to have tiny dimples to trap oil. My plates are perfectly smooth....
