Did you get a run on it? What's it like?

well, i didn't get to actually ride it. i wanted to swap rides, but i think he is a little mistrustful of my mechanic skills.

he's had a kawasaki er 6n, and the bmw 800f, and he says he has finally found the right bike. he loves the handling, and there is enough power all over the rev range.

the bike looks amazing, and for the first time on our rides people were coming up to him and asking what year the bike was. it seems like honda did a really nice job of balancing new technology (abs, fuel injection) with retro styling that's not so retro it's dorky.

of course, i could buy 25 cb650's for the price he paid.....

Yep, don't think I would ever buy a new bike. Can't afford to. :) The 1100 looks nice though, especially in red. And we get silver engines in the UK.

I like it. It seems like perfect timing for HONDA. I wish the "standard" bikes would become popular again and I bet this is just the right kick in the ass to start it off. I'm not a fan of ABS however I have heard that it is going to be standard on all bikes shortly. Imagine a suzuki or kawasaki 2-stroke with modern fuel injection and whatnot? Jesus, guys on liter bikes would be #$%*ting their pants.

i don't know if a two stroke would pass emissions tests! that's one issue i have with the new honda...there's not much sound to it because of the emissions approved muffler and tuning.  i imagine with a little tweaking, though, you could gain a few more horses and get that old school snarl out of it.

For ~$1500 you can get a great sound out of them, the only problem is that I could have a running CB750 sitting there for the same price.  Neat bikes though.
