Installing rear bearing retainer, need stakes?

Hi Guys,

im just about ready to re-lace my cb550 wheels. iv pressed in the bearings etc and now its time to do retainers.

do i need to stake them again (its a real pain when removing them with stakes) or can i use loctite thread locker (Strong)?

any advice appreciated ;)

planning on re-doing the bearings in your lifetime?   ;D

The slight buggering of the threads that occurs when the threads are first staked and then unstaked was enough for me to happily forego restaking after the bearings were replaced. I marked the position of the retainer relative to the hub and after 2 years and 4K mikes it has not budged a bit. FWIW

thanks for that man, mine actually are about 8mm before the old stake marks after i tightened the retainer. I have no idea why as i cleaned all the thready with a thread file, the retainer spins on :D staking it is! ciao ;)
