+1

Don't be tempted to torque them down to stop the leak.  In spite of their 17mm bolt size they're not actually meant to be tightened down much and will strip out or actually break off the threads if tightened too much.  The o-rings in them are what keep the oil in, and if they haven't been changed in the past several years are probably hardened and flat and can't do their job anymore.

I bought a set of chrome aftermarket tappet covers on EBay. Worst pieces of crap ever. They are the tall ones with heat fins. They come with flat washers and leaked at speed. Very messy. They also come precariously close to my gas tank.
I took my stock units and buffed them on a wheel until they were nice and shiny. Can't beat the stock stuff, honestly.

New o-rings are >$3 each at the stealership.  Until you find a cheaper alternative you can flip them and get a little more life out of them.  Mine were all flattened on one side, doing this snugged them up.

why dont you guys to a bearing supplier, they stock every o-ring size you can think of. For $3 you can get an entire set of o-rings!

i used a 30x3.5mm o-ring for my tappet covers and intake manifolds.
