Anyone used these replicas from Vietnam?
« on: July 16, 2013, 10:24:25 AM »
Looks like they make a set of replica exhausts in addition to fenders and seats. Anyone ever used this company? Would love to hear from people who have used the replica exhaust especially.

some have.
IIRC, fitment issues were the biggest complaint.

You mean fitment issues of the exhaust or other parts they sell?

I would spend the extra money for the Yamiya pipes, just my opinion.

You are assuming that Vietnam is not the source for their pipes.

He means fitment with the seats. In general I have read good things about them, but thats for $200-$300 seats, not a $2,100 (including shipping) exhaust.

It very well may be, but look at the shipping costs...way more from Vietnam from them...$650 fixed rate?  That's crazy.

I just received a seat from vietnam for a cb450 -apparently the best honda ever made? ::)

It was an ebay thing though, maybe the same? It was about $200.

Its for a buddys bike. He wanted a stock looking seat but thinner. The stitching is great on it. The seat pan looks to be fabricated by welding pieces of metal, then using bondo to clean up the welds, then painted. It must have taken a long time. The fit was a little off- I had to bend the hinge threaded studs a little to get them to fit. Then once fit, I noticed the seat looked tweaked at the back, slightly raised on one side. I took it off and "twisted" the whole seat a little and now it fits perfect.

Heres some pics...

Overall a good price for a customized seat thats a good fit (with possible a few minutes of tweaking)

Thanks for the report and pics.

I'm after the exhausts myself. The common wisdom out there is that Yamiya makes the best stuff you can buy. The Vietnam pipes cost less (even with the crazy shipping cost), but I worry about their quality.

Leaning towards Yamiya unless someone has a better bet  :o

For that kind of money, it's worth the extra now to avoid problems; especially when you know the extra money gets you quality.

I work for an Asian Company that also makes Motorcycles. HD has parts made in Mexico on their bikes. The Chinese have been off shoring to Thailand and Vietnam to lower their costs.

For short run items like these exhausts no large manufacturer could afford to make them. These and the Yamiya would be made in very small shops using hand labor. That shop may be in Vietnam. To do chroming in the US, Europe, or Canada would be very expensive. In these third World Countries, no problem, just dump the waste out back.

A major Canadian Company that makes part for my industry us now off shoring some of their production to Thailand which surprised me. It is a complex World we are living in. If you had the time to do the research you may be surprised where are replica parts come from.

Bobby states some valid points. Do you see the recent post about a new Honda part that was made in China?  Yes, it's happening.
