Overcast here, light drizzle and 5 degrees Celcius.....can we swap houses for a week or two junkie??  Coldest winter here since 1972, and it feels like it!

I have given up the jacket altogether and resorted to my skid lid. Funny how you just cant drive fast enough to cool off.

Ride safe guys, and watch out for those inattentive cagers all around you!

I watched this guy who was riding with a group. They were all pulling into a driveway. This guy followed right next to this cagers left rear bumper area. I could not believe it as I watched it. These cagers swerve all over the place around here. Just one jerk of the wheel while smackin some bratty kid and this guy's ride day would have been over. Whats more is that there was also a vehicle on the way out. These guys did not seem like high mile riders. This is a judgement made on the way they left the light before this.

Thanks to whatever powers that be, the hot stuff moved out of Montana Sunday night.  It wasn't as hot here as it is for you out in the mid-west right now.  Never got much over 98 F, and as long as you were moving down the highway it was tolerable in leather, probably because enough slow moving air came through the vents and flowed over my sweat-soaked  tshirt and cooled things off.  It helps loads, too, that the humidity around here seldom runs over 50%, and drops to the teens on occassion.   Slow traffic in town and sitting at stop lights was a sauna though.  Temperatures are now in the high 70's to low 80's and things are much better.  My condolences to all you riding in high temperature and high humidity.  I don't think I could do it.

Took a 90 mi. ride a few days ago in this heat and when I got back home I drank about a gallon of water.Funny I still enjoyed the ride but I think my next ride I will take a camel pack of water.Anyone who rides in hot wether needs to be sure to get enough water. Getting the itch for another ride. Dannie

Of course being a Dumass, I've been in shorts and a polo, but it's still been too hot! What I hate is when you are riding along and ride into a hot spot! I don't know what causes them, but it's like riding into a blast furnace!  Got off my bike yesterday, and the whole back of my pants were wet! (no, not from #$%*ting them in a close call!). Kinda embarasing!
Last night the "cold" front came through with rain (Michigan). When I got up, it was already 80ยบ, but that's supposed to be our high for today! Those of you to the east..Coming your way!!!!!

Bear in mind, fellow forum goers, that when the ambient temperature rises above body heat you are better to insulate your body with something than to leave it exposed to the sun, which is then slowly broiling any exposed skin.

Saw a couple on a cruiser one summer. It was pushing 40c. He was wearing the usual uniform (leather waistcoat, jeans, chaps, fingerless gloves and an ashtray on his head); she was wearing a leather thong, chaps and a leather bra, plus fingerless gloves and the ashtray. They must have been riding for a while because she was redder than a beetroot and headed for some serious sun burn.

It doesn't get that hot around here (although it came close a few weeks ago) but I run into it when I'm touring.

What works for me is soaking my t-shirt down and then putting on my vented Bates riding jacket over top with all the vents open.  If you don't cover the t-shirt you're wasting your time as it will be dry in a minute.

On my touring bike I also have a drink holder (I know, I know but it serves an important purpose on hot days).  In addition to drinking the water I can dump some down my jacket to keep my shirt wet between gas stops.

Buy a white helmet?

I've switched to silver helmets myself.

I live in Michigan and this last week it was like 98 degrees and sky high humidity. Unbearable to say the least. I rode one day without my leather and felt so unsafe that I suffered the rest of the week with the leather on. I have a phobia about hitting the pavement and watching my skin being ripped off in chunks. I consider that to be one of my healthy phobias though, the rest we will not speak of.

Yep. It's hot everywhere. We're  beating 100 down here in Texas. The ride to work is pretty good. The ride coming home is miserable.
I currently have two running bikes and one project in the works. I always ride the CB 750 to work. This bike is far cooler to ride than my 2001 Kawaski ZRX 1200R. The Kawasaki which of course is water cooled brings all that engine heat to my legs and face. The old air cooled Honda is a much cooler ride.

Literally AND figuratively! I've noticed that too...even at extreme ambient temperatures hereabouts I don't feel any heat off the bike. Smells warmish when I get off though!
