Have you hit a hard bump with that rear hoop? I live in Port Chester and I know for damn sure we have some roads around here that could do it with those stock worn shocks

Maybe there is more clearance than it seems in pictures but it doesn't look like that much

FWIW, I'm not a shill for Race Tech - I've just got a thing for good suspension and the RTCE's are the most cost-effective mod for these old damping rod front ends.

Damn, It's been awhile since I've posted. Well in recent news, I decided to finally finish the bike properly. I also threw a GSXR front end on and I'm waiting on my wheels to come in. I'm also going to be cutting the rear frame and doing a different set up with an upsweep in the rear loop because over time I have come to hate the flat look of the rear end. Im going to also remove the electronics tray and the oil tank and relocate them. Ill be attempting to build the oil tank that sits in the empty area right behind the carbs, so stay tuned.

Awesome!  You are doing a few things I really want to do with one down the line here.  Are you trying to run a 160 on the back?  Can't tell what size that is.  What are you doing to the rear swingarm? 

Looking awesome though.  Handful of cognitomoto parts up front?

Yup, I'm running a 160/60/17 in the back and 120/70/17 on the front. I swapped the old swing arm out and put a 550 one on. I always hated the stamped steel looking swing arms on the 750's so thats why I went with a 550 for the tubular look to match the frame.

and yes, there are a bunch of cognitomoto parts up front with more to come. My wallet is hurting.

Yep tubular steel swing arm looks way better. I will be using swing arm from 1981 DOHC model....

Thanks for the reply!  They really do have nice looking stuff but it does break the bank a little.  my understanding is that at its core you really only need the modified stem and bearings for it to be "plug and play" with a modern front end?  The oem modern sportbike front triple clamps and the like still work? 

What wheel are you running on the rear?  I read a honda f3 cbr wheel has the same axle diameter, just need custom spacers.  Did you have to modify the swingarm at all?

I'm putting a 17x4.25 on the rear. Ill be able to run modern sport bike tires on it. On the front theres going to be a 17x3.5 wheel. I wanted them to mach so I had to go big and my bank is hurting right now  ;D and for the swing arm, I bought it off ebay for 12$ and just swapped it with no problems at all. It fit perfectly and quickly changed the look of the rear.

Are you sticking with standard foot pegs or swapping to rearsets (since you are using clip-ons).

Nice bike, great work.
When you swap the front end. Did you have to use the GXR tree or the original? Just trying to figure out how you swap the front end shocks.
Just my .02cents. but I would relocate that licenses plate to the lower left side of the back wheel.

Cognito Moto makes the conversion tree and steering stem. Pretty simple to put together.

When deciding where to put the plate I originally wanted it down on the side but then realized I needed a place for turn signals and the all in one plate mount was the best solution.
