New here and starting on a 71 Honda CB500 Four restore
« on: July 02, 2013, 08:09:32 AM »
Hello from Louisville Colorado right around Boulder and Denver.  I previously restored a 1973 CB350 and a 96 CB750, but both were relatively simple projects.  I'm now taking on a more complex 1971 CB500 Four that is going to be a lot more involved and well above my current abilities, so I'm looking forward to learning all I can from the great folks here and paying it forward when I can.

Attached is where I'm starting from.  Some good bones, but it needs a rebuild of most components.  My first question will be how to find a replacement tank that matches the bike.

I look forward to getting to chat with you all!

Welcome from another newbie! Good luck on the project. Are you going to strip it down to the frame or just a little here and there?
Looks like a nice start. : )

Thanks everyone for the welcome!

Jerilee, for the most part it looks good so I'm probably not going to strip it to the frame, at least not this year.  Going to first get it running and in good mechanical shape and then replace the tank and paint the tank/side covers.
