Kerker with slots?
« on: July 18, 2013, 02:38:01 PM »
Ok, newbie here so bare with me...  I found a used Kerker exhaust locally and the owner was kind enough to send me a few pictures.  He says it is off a 78 cb750.  Now I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure the header doesn't come with slots cut into each tube as shown in the pics below.  What do you guys think? can they be fixed if the price of the exhaust is cheap enough?

Thanks for the input,
Nick

Slots are there to get it over the spigots.

Not all bikes use the spigots on the engine.

looks like some dingbat tried to make those flanges so they would slide over or inside the stock spigots.  The spigots are supposed to be removed with those kind of mounting flanges.  I think it would be a lot of work to weld up those slots and it would be ugly.  Best thing would be to make all new flanges, cut off the old slotted ones, and weld the new ones on...bye bye chrome...probably not worth the trouble imo
If it works good, it looks good...

Yeah, someone effed up a good exhaust. I'm thinking it could be welded in and ground, know a good welder?
I prolly would only take it if it was close to free.
