Keep at it Terry lad, but regarding the noise levels generated by the early Honda GP bikes I think the 5 cylinder 125 was perhaps the worst for doing ear damage, it was'nt a problem track side, it was the person pushing at the rear of the bike to fire it up.
The 125 had 4 lower pipes, 2 on each side and a high level exiting on the right.
As the bike fired up the revs had to be whipped up to around 18,000rpm and the pusher got a right blast from the high pipe.
Most of the factory riders suffer with hearing problems.
Tommy Robb who lives close to me has hearing aids in both ears.
Jim Redman who I get to see once a year I think suffers a Bit, but riders of their day did'nt have ear protection like we have now.
It's great to hear these bike in the flesh, but look after you hearing.
