the other bike is my baby I bought new in 1988 Yamaha Virago 750 I race it before the dragbike
i'm sorry... did you say a virago was your baby?!?  :'( ;) ;) ... couldn't resist!
anyway, was reckless and young not too long ago and remember hitting 167mph so the speedo said on the 1994 honda cbr600f2 CRAZY FAST!!!... never do this w/out a helmet as i did (i was young and inexperienced and lucky)... never do this on a straight BUT HILLY road (i was young and inexperienced and lucky)... never do this w/out 2 inch thick leathers!!!!!!!! let me rephrase, as i  peeked my head over the windscreen w/out a helmet it began to shake from side to side UNCONTROLLABLY... my eyes were tearing like i'd been dosed with some sort of war chemical... the fear came when... a tractor trailor turned out from his turnout leaving me approximately 100-150ft to come down from 167mph!!!!!! stoppies at over 100mph are not fun!!!

on a more fun controllable fast note... the 350f recently saw about 90-95mph... fun and just as lift-off-ish as gordon described earlier... damn that noisy camchain!!! she could'a seen over 100mph!

I Caught onto this post a little late.  Here "was" my 1986 GSX-R 1100 that was an absolute 2-wheeled heart attack.  I could never determine my "land speed" record with this one as the speedometers kept exploding or spontaniously combusting.  Whole lotta drama with this old Suzuki.  Check out my little bike page for details on this monster and others I destroyed at http://members.cox.net/robert3442/bikes.html

I have experienced that exact helmet shake! It was like someone grabbed the chin bar and and was shaking it back and forth about 10 times a second. Absolutely uncontrollable!  :o My eyes were rattling in the sockets. I was peeking over the windscreen at over 160 on my FJ1200. It has never happened since even at some very high speeds on the Hayabusa.

Dragman836,

You started the thread asking for times and speeds.
Half way through the posts you told all about the bike before it blew up but not it's times or speeds.
I am interested in what is the bikes weight and was the stock motor you put in a 736cc unit?

I ask this as my mate and I run a stock 736cc motor in a road race set up (see pic), but next year we are going 836 tuned.
The bike is 396 lbs.  Chris my mate is 266 lbs and I weigh in at 161 lbs.
Chris gets good drive out the hole, and runs 13.9s at just under 100mph.
I have only done three passes, and have been unable to master spin in 1st to 3rd gears, returning 14.3 at 109mph.
Top speed at the end of a kilo was 127mph at 9000rpm with chris in the seat.  (said it was scary).

Sam.

The best E>T> on the 836 was 11.07 seconds @115mph  me and the drag bike weighed in at 600 lbs. and I weighed almost 180 with leathers and helmet I would launch the bike @ 9400rpm and shift@ 9200rpm . Depending the temp. and weather front sprocket was 12 or 13 and I had a freind machine a 52 rear
The yami's best time was 13.97 @96mph on that one I'd drop the clutch at 5gran and shift at 7

Never been to a drag strip. I like my curvy roads. That being said, the 1979 cb750 121mph on the highway, 1999 gsx1100g 130mph, 1998 GSX750 129mph average per state trooper, but never went over 155mph. 1974 cb750 haven't been able to get it over 52mph. Might have a jetting problem here. To all those that say you never see an old fast rider....nah nah nah. Oh, you mean the co-worker my wife's friend lost to death thursday, well the moron did not have a license.... :( I only drive the 1974 cb750 now. Can you guess why?

Well I waited for this thread to die down before my input.  I love speed and in the past my driving record was the proof.  When I sit at the table and watch the interaction between my family, I know I will never know how fast it will go.  My family needs Dad to come home everyday.  This is not a bummer and not a boring as it sounds, it's just they are the ride that speed can't match.
These wonderful little birds are great flyers, delicious eating, excellent for training your hunting dog, and just fun to shoot,or stuff and keep around the house.  Bobwhites can be put with other types of Quail and have very large penis's.  Quail are very popular with the babes.

I agree with you Quail. We have to make life worth while. It's good to have activities that give us some thrill and keep us away from the drudgery of everyday life, but it's stupid and cruel to leave our loved ones alone because of dying of carelessness. If you are killed by a car in your way to work that's something heroical, as you was going to make money to raise your family. But dying because you wanted to put your bike to the test or for challenging another biker is simply stupid.

There should be always a balance. If our head rule, nobody of us would ever get a bike. If our heart rule, we would be living each day as if it was the last one. I think we should let our hearts rule until things get though, then it's time for the heart to take control.

...Wow, sounded good, doesn't it? I promise I didn't copy it. Maybe I should put it in my profile...

Hey Terry and Raul, that's very touching guys, how long have you both been gay? (not that there's anything wrong with that!) Ha ha, Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Just had mine at just about 90. It wasn't a good idea as I was going with the speed of the traffic. After thinking about it There was way too much traffic for me. I really like the twisties.

Booked for 115 mph on a Kawasaki Mach111 in 1971.
Teenaged, no helmet & no drink-drive laws-awesome days.
These days I just sit around 120-130kmh with an occasional burst just to tighten the cam chain.

Hey, I had a 70 Mach111/ H1.. I fondly remember when it seized up as the needle hovered around 120mph. Great bike though, in some ways!
