Would it maybe sound like a "BANG rattle rattle rattle rattle.... etc."?

I have uh... a friend who really wants to know.

Also, say my friend were in the middle of a long, cross-country road trip and knew he had a shop and a box of spare engine parts at his destination ~2500 miles away, would he be able to make it before total engine meltdown?

If your FRIEND broke a cam chain tensioner then the engine is not long before it starts to chew all the engine parts and start to jump time!! Best to try some rescue RANGERS with a truck or rent a PENSKE( MUCH cheaper than U-Haul)truck and haul it home... Just DON'T tell them you are going to carry a Motorcycle inside the BOX van!!

GOOD LUCK!!!

It sounds like the bell on an old cash register going KA-CHING!!!!  I cant think of anything good to say about a loose or broken tensioner.  I had the lock nut on my K1 come loose (my fault) after an adjustment and noticed the increase in noise right away.  Fortunately I was warming the bike up prior to a ride.  I think it would eat a lot of dollars real quick.
Ya can travel near or ya can travel far; but no matter where ya go thar ya are!
