Clutch rattle solved 78 CB550K
« on: July 19, 2013, 04:39:20 PM »
Hi all
Well i solved my clutch rattle at idle, what i found was when i pulled the dipstick and used a hooked screwdriver i could move the clutch basket back and forth clockwise/anticlockwise about 4mm...but the gear at the rear of the basket did not move...i thought rivets loose...I decided to get a low mile basket and clutch kit before i pulled the clutch cover.
No the rivets were not loose but the rubber dampers behind the plate were the problem....so just for the hell of it i will fix it using a John Smiths beer can lol ...shim the dampers get new rivets and keep it for spare
No more clutch noise at idle..

Good to know this. Is it ok to use....say a fosters can? Or god forbid a Stella?
I'll probably try this myself in the future.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.
