Can you ID this part?
« on: August 08, 2006, 10:26:59 PM »
1974 550

PO broke the connector between the tach cable and where it mounts into the engine while replacing the plugs;

I've looked at http://www.crotchrocket.com/fiche_select.asp  and the parts fiche but I just cant figure out what the part is called or its number or anything!

Aside from the 'tach cable connector' what the heck is it?

First pic is a tach cable with the associated connectors, highlighted for the bit Im looking for

Second pic is what is on the parts fiche, missing the connector dealie.

I'd like to replace this so that the tach works but I dont even know what to call it to do a search!

Thanks a lot for any help

*I found something on DS, is it called a Tachometer drive gear retaining cap?

It looks like it's the Tachometer gear holder, #19 part #12451-323-000

Am I right?

Thts right, still available from Honda, Dont loose the shim washer on the gear and remamber to order a seal as well as they dont transfer Also dont brake the gear as they dont exist any more!
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).
