Brand: BikeMaster
Chain Length: 110
Chain Type: 530
Color: Natural
Weight: 4.40
Height: 1.10

The 77/78 A bikes used 630 chain/sprockets.

The 76 A bikes used 530 chain/sprockets.

Usually, if your chain was shot/stretched then your sprockets are shot, too.  Did you give them a good inspection?  If your sprockets are OK, then buy 88 links of 630 chain.  If you sprockets are bad, then a chain will wear out quickly.

You do have the option of just buying 530 sprockets to use with your 530 chain.

1978 CB750A (upgrading very, very slowly)

Past bikes - Honda: SL350, CX650C, CB900C, CB1000C, CM450A; Kawasaki: several 1972 750 H2's; Suzuki: TC90J.

Bikes I want: CX650ED, a mid-sized japanese V-twin with ABS.

The 630 chain might have made sense back in the day, but it's ridiculous now. A 530 O ring chain is a lot stronger than those old 630, and a lot lighter with less mechanical loss. I installed a 530  O ring with standard '76A sprockets on my '77 last year, and it's now done over 8,000 miles with very few adjustments required.

Thanks!

Depends on the year.  The 77/78 models use 630 sprockets (15 front/42 rear) and chain (88 links).

The 76 models use 530 sprockets (17 front /48 rear) and chain (104 links).

Some convert the 77/78 models back to 530 sprockets/chain.

Today's 530 chain is stronger than the 630 chains of the past.

Ok cool, I ordered one with 112 links to be safe. Thanks!

Regarding strength, yeah I agree. It was funny to realize that the only bikes running 630 chains are drag bikes...I don't think my 750A has that kind of torque, but we'll see!
