k1-k6 vs k7/8 throttle cables
« on: July 23, 2013, 09:19:34 AM »
Looking to replace my push/pull cables on my k8 just for maintenance sake. Ordered motion pro as the oem cables seem discontinued. Kind of second guessing my purchase now as it really seems motion pro is hit or miss.

Seems like I can still get cables for prior year models, I'm sure the only difference is length? Currently running superbike bars.

I ran into this a short while ago on my K7. I went through two sets of after market cables (including Motion Pro) before I learned my lesson and got a set of OEM. I could have botched the order, but with one set the nut was the wrong size and wouldn't seat into the throttle housing. On the other one of the cables was too short.

After looking at the after market set and OEM set side by side, the quality difference was clear to me. I know there are some folks who've had good luck with Motion Pro,  but I'm a fool-me-once kind of guy and I'm happy to pay a little extra if I think I'm getting better quality. Not to mention all my wasted effort and time.

Where did you get oem cables from for your k7. Didn't see any on bike bandit.

I used hondarestoration.com. They seem to have a revolving inventory so it may take some time until they have them. But I've done several orders and had good luck finding a few NOS pieces that aren't produced anymore.

My local dealer has also been able track down hard to find OEM parts for me. Apparently they're on an inventory database with other small shops across the country. Through these two sources I was able to scrap together some hard to find brackets for my CL's original exhaust.
