Lower case flaws.. Keep or replace? 72 CB750
« on: July 28, 2013, 06:57:59 PM »
I pulled my cases apart and there's two flaws in the lower case .. I plan to have the professionally cleaned and coated black.. Think I should keep , repair or replace this lower??

This broken tab was all me : (

This is all the PO .. Chain must've broken and hit the case at some point .. looks like he did a good job with the epoxy .. it's SOLID .. the case is cracked in this spot though .. I could grind it all smooth and fix it properly I suppose .. would it be worth the trouble?

...

Final question .. How do you get this pin out of the case? it's in the area the kick starter stuff came out of.. I know the vertical one is part of the case .. the fatter horizontal one is the one I'm questioning.

Thanks guys!

The chain area looks fine..unless it leaks at the seam.

The broken tab is NO biggie since you have the cases apart and you KNOW what happened to the broken off piece. I'd call that repair from the chain slap a ride forever repair ,just not pretty<< DON'T LOOK AT IT!!!

If you plan to POWDERCOAT, you have a LOT of prep to do. DEGREASE, clean, dry and PREP so POWDER don't get in the threads of ALL holes!

Cleaning the freeze and oil is
Ldone..  was going to soda blast the outside before a final cleaning.. I want to go all black with the motor, probably still keep the side covers polished.

What would be the best bet for the cases? Put them back together (empty) and tape everything off and have them painted? My diy paint never seems to hold up as well as I would like..
