630 D.I.D. chain reviews? Mine is crap.
« on: August 21, 2013, 06:04:12 PM »
So i found the lowest price i could find and it looks like I'm paying for it.

I found a D.I.D. 630 x 88 link chain on amazon, for $54. Good price, next lowest price was $74, trying to save as much money as possible. I purchased the chain, I just finished replacing my rear wheel bearings, and now putting my rear chain in tension. It was squeaking, at one position dead on tension, move ten links the chain is tight as a drum, no slack at all. Fearing that my axle might be bent, hub is off, sprocket bent, bearings not aligned or frozen.

I found out three links are almost frozen, shot some wd-40 to loosen them up, add some chain grease. Still pretty stiff. What are people's experience with new rear chains? I installed the rear chain, gave it a few good shots of grease(spray on rear motorcycle chain grease)  and I've ridden less then 500 miles.

Cheap chain?
Improper install, and pre-greasing instructions?

2 years ago I bought the same NOT o ring chain as you.  Over last summer I had serious stretching in one area, so bad i had to replace the chain.  With less than 5000 miles.
I'm no newbie to chain maintenance so I don't know what happened.

I replaced it with an O ring DID chain and it has been fine all summer.
