Ok guys, quit rubbing it in!!

Don't you just hate the feeling of getting a bad deal.

Well, on a brighter note, I put my front forks on today. The too and bottom neck bearings aren't here yet, this was just to make sure everything fitted together, also I may have just wanted a glimpse of what it will look like.

Still trying to figure out bearings that match axles and wheels an still trying to locate a rear wheel too.

What rear sets are you going with? I picked up some 08 R6 rear sets... I was at the local bike shop and liked them the best.

Haven't thought that far ahead yet. If I do get rear sets does that replace the rear foot pegs? I want to be able to go doubles on this thing

So, my 1988 gsxr front wheel arrived today. I was really hoping it would just bolt on, but like any logical thinker I didn't check the hub bearing size if this one vs. the 2001 hayabusa which would obviously fit the axle it will be going on. Well, my lack of thinking wasn't helpful. The 750 hub bearing doesn't fit the axle. Not a big deal, just need to find a way to make it work.

If anyone has ideas please let me know, I will need to make bearings, spacers, seals etc all fit the 88' wheel to the 01' forks.

Also, turns out the hayabusa discs for he brakes don't have the same stud pattern as the 750, again, not a big deal, i guess I'll just have to drill them out to fit, on a positive note this should make the bike weigh less, making it go much faster

A bit of a bigger problem though, the 750 discs are offset to fit calipers, the hayabusa discs are not. I haven't wrapped my head around this one yet, so haven't come up with any ideas.

I put the front wheel on the forks today to see what it would look like. Im happy.

I just used a long bolt for an axle.

I'm going to sell he hayabusa discs and just run with the 750 ones. From what I can see with them lining up and fitting the calipers that should be a worry.

Once again, if I'm wrong, let me know.

Still working on the bearing situation for the front. That should be done soon.

Quick update in case anyone is interested:

Just ordered my rear wheel, complete with rear disc, hub, sprocket etc, shipped for $140.

Just ordered two front discs as well. Im just going to have to sell the hayabusa ones I got, my bad, I just figured they would work.

I bought two because it was actually pretty tricky to locate another one that matched completely.

They are on the way, so once my bearings and spacers are sorted, front and back wheels / Suspension are done. New springs from Dime City will be on the way soon as well.

Its been a while since I updated this thread, here is a pic of the bike with both wheels on.

The rear wheel of the 1988 has the same when bearings as the CB550, so that just went straight on, the front wheel bearings to match the front end have arrived, but I am waiting to weld some parts to the frame (Seat pam, tail hoop and mud guard), then paint the frame and wheels, and then ill add the bearings to mount them properly.

But this is roughly what the bike will look like with the gsxr front end and wheels

Also, I have began pulling my engine down. The pistons were pretty gnarly so cleaning all the carbon off the tops of them (See pic), also cylinder 4 was a bit rough. Cylinders 1-3 were like new, the pistons are all like new, im not sure what the previous owner did but they are mint. Cylinder 4 looks like maybe there was some fluid just sitting on top of the piston which may have caused some corrosion or something. Either way they are getting honed as we speak

Also, I have been trying to locate a CB650 cam for a while now, not having a whole lot of luck, however, I did recently find a complete CB650 (1981) in running condition (Carbs need a bit of love) for $200.

So I picked that up (See pic), will take the cam and part the rest. HA!

I am planning on running my wiring harness through the frame to hide all of the wires as much as possible.

I have the wiring harness off and am in the process of sorting which wires I need, and which side to run them through, they wont all fit on one side, so im splitting them half and half.

I will be drilling some holes in my tail hoop and different parts of the frame in the next few days for entry and exit points.

Im not sure if this will be worth all the effort when all is said and done, but only one way to find out

Also, I still need to mod up some spacers for the front and rear wheels, but have no idea how to do it. I have some digital calipers but they wont fit where they need to.

Any ideas on how to determine what size the spacers need to be?
