Fork length
« on: July 27, 2013, 12:56:24 am »
I have a CB450 that I got into an accident a couple months ago and I think I'm going to restore it back. The worst damage is to the fork tubes so I'm wondering if anyone has a set? I know their 35mm like the 750 but I don't know the length(I know their shorter) or if any other tubes would interchange from let's say a CB350.

And yes, I'm sorry the 450 isn't a SOHC, but I figure there are more people look at this page as well as there being a greater wealth of knowledge.

I bought new fork staunchions for my 650 from Disco Volante Moto in the UK, took a few weeks because they were a special order, but great service from Howard there and can recommend them highly ;D.

If they are the same as a 750 you can buy stock length tubes at CycleX.  They have the length of 22 13/16" listed as stock.  I would verify.

A K1 750 fork is 29 7/8", fully extended, from the center of the axle to the top of the tube.

Forks by Frank can source the correct length, a little more $ typically but very high quality parts.

They may have best decorative chrome, but I prefer hardchome for longivity.

Anyone ever mike a set of FbF tubes, i have seen aftermarket tubes that are on the "small" side.

may be a 550 forks and put clipon bars?  forks can then slide up and down according to your need and riding style.  i think it looks cool with clipon bars and couple of inches of forks stick up.
