Need under seat photo 550
« on: July 30, 2013, 04:52:26 PM »
I must be missing a shim or something for my airbox housing.  There's about a 1/2" gap at the rear of it.  Can someone with a 550 post a photo for reference?  Thanks...

yeah, you're missing the little spring clip thing that holds it tight in place.

Kenzo, do you mean on my air filter itself?  I'm talking about the bolt that mounts the airbox itself to the mount that hangs down from the frame.  I actually bent up a wire coat hangar and formed it to hold the air filter tight.   :)

Oh, now i see.  Yeah  you just need to put a 6mm x 16mm bolt (80) through the box and into that bracket.  It goes through a spring washer(90) then a plain flat washer (76)then through the box and into the bracket(24).

Each of those L brackets has a long side and short side.  Use the long sides to make them reach where you need them.

Also, there are supposed to be anti crush collars in the holes of the plastic.  This aligns the holes in the plastic but prevents clamping pressure from smashing it/extruding it thinner.  You only tighten the bolts to compress the collars.  The collars and washers hold the plastic bits in proper position and alignment.
