Hey guys,  Harbor Freight has a Cylinder Leakdown Tester on sale.

What do you think, would it be worth it?         Later on, Bill

Good piece of kit Bill, how much? Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I've only been in that store once, but it sort of gave me the heeby-jeebies.  Many of those tools look really cheap. It's hard, sometimes, to now when something is a bargain or a case of "You get what you pay for".
On the other hand, you won't be using it 5 times a day, so what the heck...
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

Sorry bout that, I thought it would show the price which is $34.99. I've bought a few things from there and while they weren't brand name stuff, I've had pretty good luck with them. Example: I bought an 18V cordless (rechargeable) 3/8 drive drill and it holds a charge and stays up better than my 12V Skil or the Black & Decker does. I know that there are some things that are better left to brand name items but, you can save quite a bit by picking and choosing wisely what you buy and where you buy it. I've got a 6" Digital caliper that I've compared to a quality unit and it's right in there. I don't know that it'll stay calibrated as ling as the other units but, it'll get the job done. For the record, my tools vary from Snap-On to Craftsman to Matco to S & K to Harbor Freight. I've also got an off brand motorcycle lift similar to the one at Harbor Freight except mine doesn't have the removable plate for rear wheel removal but, mine cost me $199.99 and has a capacity of
800lbs and lifts my 80' CB750K quite well. I'm not too pleased with the front wheel clamp but, I'm doing up a safe remedy for that and don't mind doing it. So, what fo you guys think about this unit at the price of $34.99?   Later on, Bill

No idea on that tool, but I too have had some good luck with Harbor freight tools. For tools i
m gonna use, but not too often this is where I buy them. It's really a matter of if you want it forever, buy a craftsman or the like, if you need some stuff to get the job done now and forget about later, save yourself some money!

Uncle, I understand where you're coming from and, in some cases, I agree. There are some things in there that I wouldn't touch with a 10' pole. On the other hand, I've bought some things there that seem pretty good and have serve my needs well. By the way, kinda miss the old Indian that was in your avatar. Later on, Bill

That's a good price Bill, I only ever bought one thing from HF, a set of indexable milling cutters, but they work fine, so I'd have no hesitation to buy one of their leak down tools, pity they don't ship to Oz...............  ;D

Thanks Terry, I feel like Harbor Freight has some good buys, some fairly good buys
and some buys, that I'd just aren't worth the effort. I just wanted to get somebody
else's opinion, that wouldn't judge it simply by where it was from. Thanks for that.
Some folks haven't learned that it doesn't have to have that "BIG NAME" on it, to be able
to do the job. By the way, how's the race bike project going? Hope you're exercising that
BMW properly also. Catch you later on, Bill

I've bought a few things from HF.  If you keep a weather eye out for the obvious junk, most of their stuff is functional and affordable.  Keep in mind, EVERYTHING at HF goes on sale about once a quarter plus they also have their coupons taking additonal money off every so often.  Last big thing I bought was a cycle jack.  It was onsale, plus a 20% off coupon, got it for about $30.  Worked well and was sturdy enough I suppose, but when I got a chance to pick up a much higher dollar one from a friend for $50, I took it back and wound up with $55 of store credit for it.  Talk about win-win...  Now I'm trying to decide what to use my store credit on...  ;D

Thanks duster, I get the emails too and you can get some pretty good deals. I do appreciate the offer though. Also, when they have "Side Walk Sales", you can get even better deals on some things. I've also considered the large parts washing vat but, I've got a problem with room to put it. They're usually about $69.99 on sale and $99.99 otherwise. Yeah, if you pay attention to what you're doing, you can get some pretty good stuff there and not have to spend a fortune doing it.

G'Day Bill, well I'm stuck here doing army #$%* this weekend, but I just picked up a rear wheel with an F1 hub that was laced to a Borrani 18 inch WM5 (three inch wide, I think) alloy rim and a trick 5mm thick cast iron disc, so once I buy a new 130 or 140/90 rear tire I'll be able to roll the race bike around the garage floor at least, and while I'm waiting for my H/D stud kit so I can assemble the race engine, I'll shove another engine in the frame to mock up some alloy braces between the swingarm pivot and the rear engine mounts, hell, I might even take the sucker for a ride! Cheers, Terry. ;D
