i had thought about this option many times, but the cost was just too much for me to stomach - please keep us updated with photos as you progress with this...
what are your plans for the seat - r.e. padding/covering/fitting etc...?

i'll paint it and a friend of mine knows an upolsterer.
i've seen the guy's work and it's pretty good.
as far as fitting goes, these guys say the molded it from a 400 seatpan, so it
should[/b] just be a matter of drilling and bolting the hinges on. i'm going to be looking for brakelight-turnsignal options though. that big ass fender and light assembly has to go.

I bought something similar for my 750. Wicked nice, but is flimsy without a pan for the upholstery. I got mine from airtech who makes similar projects. I paid around $200 for the seat shipped with the upholstery pan. The paint cost me about $200 (did the whole bike), and getting it upholstered cost 120. Lots of money for $200 on top of bones worth of seat...
