Here's PPG's Tangerine "Go Mango":

http://www.streetrodderweb.com/features/1301sr_1948_ford_coupe/photo_05.html

Should be pretty damned close to sunrise.

We held a color light up to the chips, and picked the orange that would look amazing surrounded with cloud silver and white. It should all look very beautiful, and my painter is really excited to see it come through.

Looks too dark.

Mango is a very different color than Orange. Stev-o is correct, it's too dark a shade if you are trying to match the Honda Orange. But, who's to say it has to match? It looks like it will be beautiful anyway, so I'd keep painting.  :)

They are still both Tangerines, however. Don't pay attention to the "Go Mango". That's not meaning that it's mango colored. It just a promotion name used for the 2006 Charger year. Actually, it was phrased as "Go Man GO!"

Both Sunrise flake and this color have a lot of red in them, which was crucial.

With no light on it, it looks like almost like dark copper. With a light on it, it's a lighter shade than Sunrise. The reason for the lighter shade is because I'm using white decals. Something closer to sunrise flake didn't go as well with white.

Here's some pictures of this color with varying sunlights. He's going to be putting a lot flake in it:

Here's sunrise flake orange:

We're only talking minor deviation. Hell, Sunrise had lots of deviation from the factory. For both of these colors, they are chameleons and will change depending on the lighting, which makes comparing pictures impossible. Trust me, it will be close to Sunrise.

If the last pic of tank and side covers is your paint, then by golly, I'd be whooping and hollering. They look fantastic! As I said earlier, close is great, exact, well who cares? Paints deviate over time and by country apparently.

If I could be so bold, make sure you tell your painter not to add metal flake over the striped colors. It will alter their appearance heavily. I wasn't sure if you implied that from your post, or if it were limited to the orange only.

Imagine you're awfully excited to get this bike wrapped up and in the sun-

Here's sunrise flake orange:

Here's what flake sunrise actually looks like, those k4-6 tank and covers looks more brown than orange...Flake sunrise orange is a more vibrant orange, I've owned a FSO K6 and its one of my favorite colors.

Hoping he'll send me another text. He will wetsand, lay down the decals, and then clear coat again.

Still would like to see the fenders.

If you look at the pictures, you can see the side covers hiding behind the tank. The decals are out on the table next to it. :)

Yeah. Maybe I'll shoot him a text for some more progress shots. I like to let him do his magic without pestering him too much.

My goal at the beginning of this project was to create a classic 450 with some modernized touches. Old bikes in complete form are nice (I have a few like this already), but they do appear old. It's nice to have something a little different in the stable.

To meet these goals, I wanted to make it a visually loud bike, but with subtle touches. My plan was to go with Sunrise, but I think we made the right choice by swaying away. I mean, this is a 70-74 model year CB450, so we are not talking about a rare prized possession here. Instead of worrying about it being original, we decided to take a look at the other colors and pick something that lives well together. We went through 12 Tangerine swatches. I let my girlfriend (art-school graduate) pick the color since I'm not very good when it comes to color differentiation. Trust me, this bike should look absolutely gorgeous when the decals, emblems, and everything is put together. I also wanted a scheme to make the bike "look" bigger since I'm a big guy, so that's why I decided to go with a white decal to make things appear larger. The emblems all have white lettering from the factory as well.

Making it "modernized" in my mind meant reducing the amount of chrome from "everything" to half. The fork legs are powder coated to look like cloud silver. The gauge faces went from a dark blue to white/orange so that they actually match the bike. The gauge housings are a black metallic pearl. The fenders went from chrome to cloud silver. Everything else, the chrome is left intact, and there's still plenty of it. A small handful of things were powder coated black, some of them which were left originally "metal" from the factory (passenger foot pegs, rear sprocket guard, etc). Gone are the "grey" cables, replaced with black cables.

We will see how well my "vision" turned out in reality after all said and done. The goal here was to make something that shouldn't be far off of being at Honda's showroom and being a 2014 model.

So, I vote I change this thread title to (Tangerine) instead of (Sunrise). Or is (GoManGO!) better?

+1.   I've done the same thing a few times in the past, just picked a color I really like and rode with it [literally!]. Just don't called it Sunrise and no reason for guilt.

Fenders are done and "they look awesome."

He's going to undercoat those tomorrow and do a buff job.  I think I'll be picking them up tomorrow.

What are you using for undercoat? Thinking of painting my K4's fender while it is off.
