Finding an original speedometer cable clip has been tits for this bike. They are OOP.

So I got pulled one off of a CB200 and drilled out the hole of the clip. Fits beautiful, and looks better than stock:

Minor update, but it's an update. I'm still looking for a black tachometer cable. You can see that ugly discolored stock cable. I think Bill said that the CB500T used the same cable, but black?

Indeed, they are identical except for color.
That cable isn't easy to find in any color.......

Seeing your going to replace it anyway why not try a heat gun to refresh the black plastic coating?

The cable you see going through the loop is a speedometer cable (NOS). I'm talking about the tachometer cable (that ugly silver/goldish aged cable) that you can still see in the pics...

There's lots of used CB500T tach cables on ebay. There's one that's cheap that I have my eye on. I've contacted the seller and asked him if it can be cleaned up and placed on a show bike. Haven't heard back. The cable looks pretty good from the images.

Some other options:

Don't know what to do except for the wait game.

Got a text from my painter today.

He said he's going to buff everything after work and then it will be done. Probably will have pictures of the whole shibang this weekend.

I talked him into coming by and enjoying some microbrews with me.

But for now:

Even the masking tape is orange. :) NOT MANGO STEVE, Orange.

I'm liking this new tach cable from Charlies. The "key" that goes into the engine is a little bit narrower, but it still bites in good. I apologize for the immense amount of dust in the photos. Lots of stuff I haven't touched for months:

Other stuff:

titties:

This Honda vehicle is as cool and innovational as the CB750:

Jeeze guys, rushing me! Just got the damned things home 5 minutes ago.   ;D

The fenders are going to be the first step. getting those mounted, wired, etc. We'll see how long that takes. A perfectionist as myself will have to order any missing hardware fastener from Honda.

Side covers next, and then tank last. The tank is going to need some rinsing (probably will use vinegar + baking soda) because it was in a blast booth, and any light rust that it has should be neutralized.  If I'm lucky, I should be on the road within a week. Hang on fellas… ;)

The paint came out really good. It's definitely Orange, more like Sunrise (but less red) than I thought. The silver goes really good with the orange. It will be a head turner. He shot a lot of clear on it, so it should last. The decals are all under the clear coat.

5 min ago, hardly. I would of at least set the tank on there for a quick mock up shot.
Hardware from Honda?  Get some ss hardware from your local bolt supply store.

Did a couple hours work. Still some more to go, but it's coming along nicely. I actually should be riding this during the weekend.

The white stripes was definitely a good idea. It gives it a bigger look!

I'll be ready to race you in the twisties soon Steve.
