I've been seeing these reproductions and they looks very good. I like the stock look. Great price, too.

No no no.  If you are going to order a MC, go here. I doubt I will ever rebuild a MC again.

$44 for a new m/c?  You're right Steve, hardly worth rebuilding one at that  price...Larry

Plus another may be $50 for shipping to US?

DSS has a US location in PA now....

I've emailed to see how much shipping is.

Ther fork gaiters (OEM) are good priced too. Cb450 used the same as CB750.

I wonder what the difference is between cb450 bars and cb500.

EDIT: Difference is that the CB500 bars look to square. Never-mind.

Had a very lucky day today.

Ordered:

Tachometer
Handlebars
Master cylinder (used)
Fork Gaiters
BT-45 front and rear tires
bearings/seals for front and rear tires
Forks are on the way

I think part hunting for this bike is now over.

Rebuild front end

* New seals
* Washed out the guts with mineral spirits
* ATF transmission oil
* New gators
* New fork tubes

She's starting to look like a real CB450 again.

She's been hard at work "cleaning" stuff.

*Ordered 1972 CB750 handlebars...we are going to test fit these as they are close to CB450 bars, although a bit shorter on the rise.

*Ordered Master Cylinder from David Silver Spares.

Still looking for a tachometer.

This is going to be a very nice bike. The compression is only decent, but it's going to be a head snapper compared to her little CB125.

Finished Brownie today. Gorgeous bike. Looks better than my CB750. There are some remaining issues:

1) Repair clutch cable notch on actuator arm (I think this is what it's called). I tightened the clutch adjustment screw too much and it came in contact with the chain. Gotta find someone who can repair this because it involves riveting. Any ideas?

2) Get new front turn signals. This have been modified. There should only be one wire coming out of them, but there's two. Figured i'd start fresh so she can get some functional turn signals.

3) Rebuild the carbs. My simple cleaning wasn't enough. The engine bogs at higher RPMs. Off to the pops for this task.

4) Replace right side engine gasket. Big-time leak!

5) Refurbish tachometer.

Other than that, progress is going well. Here's some pics for your viewing pleasure.

Nice tach, but not a '73-'74 because it has the indicator lights built in...

The only thing that isn't stock is the handlebars. Those are repro 1971 CB750k Bars, which look perfect on this bike IMO (drilled holes and everything). Same width as the stock bars, but less pullback and less rise. I've always found the CB450 bars to be on the tall side. I may have to do the same bars on my build.

You sure about that? I think 74 is when the cb750 first got running lights in the front so I would assume the 450 had them as well..

Not too sure. I did take a search on eBay and found that most, if not all the '74 CB450 turn signal had one wire exiting them...

I think it was 75 when the running light became mandatory.  But my memory can be foggy ::)...Larry

I just did a little looking at the fiches and they show one wire for 74. I thought I remembered that some bikes got the "beehive" turnsignals with running lights. I know that the new Emgo beehive signals have two wires.

* Replaced Fuel Hoses
* Replaced Points/Condenser. Set timing.
* Reset floats
* Installed fuel Tank cap gasket
* Sanded front brake pads
* Compression shows 150/165. Pretty much good to go.

Fellas, I think Brownie is complete.

Just finished the final tuning. I put fuel stabilizer in the gas tank and I'm going to winterize it.

CB450K7

1) Replaced Diatchii points with slightly used Honda OEM points plate assembly. Diatchii condenser installed (Honda one was bad)
2) Rebuilt carburators. Cleaned twice. OEM parts.
3) Air/mix screw set by exhaust analyzer
4) Static timing set spot on.
5) Cam chain tensioner set
6) Valves set exactly to .002"
7) New OEM NGK plugs. New NGK plug caps.

There's nothing else to tune.

Bill, sound good to you?

At 18F, I probably made some other mistakes too.  :o

Just thought you'd like to see the CB750 in action. I had 20 minutes of boring riding footage before showing similar environments to the link you posted. We've got lots of good roads and rides up here in ID. There was about 80GB of video that didn't really have anything exciting.
