cb750 cycle x cam tower o rings
« on: September 06, 2013, 05:59:38 PM »
Has anyone bought the complete gasket kit from cycle x that has every gasket, o ring, and seal for the entire motor?
Not the expensive race proven kit or anything just the $59 one.

I got it for my '72 cb750 but while trying to install the 4 o rings under the cam towers I noticed a difference in size.
The "inner" o rings that go over the oil jet fit ok (kind of small and not tight but it works)
The "outter" o rings that go in the recess where the oil passage ends are bigger than the recess. They actually sit on the outside lip above the recess.
The stock o rings I took out were fitted inside.
Just wondering if they will work alright fitted this way?

Anyone had this issue?

I got that kit for my 72 CB750, but didn't have any fitment issues like that. Very good gasket kit so far for my experience, but looked like they added the o-rings to the kit and they could have made a mistake with yours? I would go look at a parts fiche, it should list size of the o rings, then you can go buy just the size you need. Can you put up any pictures?

Joe:
This post may have some info for you. I didn't know that the oil jet recesses were different sizes.
This was from a full cycle-x gasket kit.

Yes, I ran into this on my '72.  Mine used smaller 4mm o-rings around the oil jets.  They weren't included in the Cycle X kit.
