wont start after carb rebuild
« on: August 10, 2006, 10:05:48 AM »
Hey All,
After rebuilding the carbs and getting the WANKS back on the bike I wouldn't start (CB550 K0).  It is getting gas, air and spark.  If anyone has had this problem let me know what I am overlooking.  Battery is charging right this second and am going to give it another try once it is fully charged.  Give me some input please.  I need to get this bike on the road, I haven't been on it all summer and I'm going crazy.  Thanks
 Chris

not really enough info. could be any of a million little things.

you're sure the bowls are full?  it takes a little time.
throttle slides in correctly(cutout on the upstream) and moving together?
do they pretty much close off the carb bore when closed?
carbs are tight in the intake manifold?

kill switch?

After putting my carbs back in it took me a minute to realize i had left the kill switch in the off position and that was why mine wouldn't start.  If that is the problem (i doubt it but it was worth a shot) dont feel dumb just because the solution was simple- feel lucky.

while getting my last bike together, i took it on a test run to the store about a mile away.  came out, it wouldn't start.  pushed it about a half mile before i noticed the kill switch.

i do it all the time--though i rarely start pushing before i notice these days.
