I have noticed the my battery would drain after a few days of riding. The battery itself is new and OK.
Checked the charge voltage and at 5,000 RPM I was getting 12.7v to the terminals - not enough to re-charge the battery fully.
Following the service manual I adjusted the regulator screw (clockwise) but that did not increase the charge output. Currently the adjustment screw is all the way in and I'm only getting 12.8-.9v charge to the battery at 5k RPM.
What else could be causing this?
If it's the failing regulator, can it be upgraded to a more modern one?
