Two washers when removing pilot screw?
« on: August 05, 2013, 01:37:03 PM »
When I removed the pilot screw I also pulled out a broken O-ring and it seems like two metal washers also came out. Not positive because the carbs were flipped over and I just saw it drop out from the top. I thought there was only the pilot screw, the spring, the rubber o ring and then one metal washer. The main jet and emulsifier tube was also out as was the float needle but comparing the inside of it to another bowl it doesn't appear like there is a washer missing. Any idea where it came from? One is also slightly smaller then the other but still fits on the pilot screw.

79' CB650 PD50A? carbs.

Unless you're the original owner, you can be sure to find all kinds of Easter eggs on these bikes.

So there is only supposed to be one washer and a rubber o ring right? Is there any other washers or I rings that are accessible at the bottom of the carbs like the main jet or needle

My experience has been one o ring and one washer (and if anyone has found replacements that will fit, I'd like to hear it).  I have the CV carbs so my needles won't come out (easily).

As far as I know Suzuki are the only ones who sell the 'O' ring and washers separately (they fit Honda/Kei-Hin fuel screws)
I have posted the part numbers previously (can't find them at present)

As for OP, It's pretty normal someone screwed up, last set of carbs I did had 'o' rings and washers doubled up on one carb and nothing on another(after owner had spent $100.00 to have them 'cleaned' at a shop)

Yeah it looks like there were two washers in the first carb and only a rubber o ring in the second haha. Oh man I went to every local shop and even hardware store trying to find this o-ring but no cigar. Even the local motorcycle dealership could only give me a rebuild kit for 45 bucks and that wouldnt be here to the end of the week. Any ideas on the part number?

The washers on the mixture screws are only to protect the rubber O ring from damage. Thats it.

Well I drove an hour and a half today to pick up the suzuki o rings that worked great. Part number is 13295-26E00. It was at the time of reaching the dealership and looking at the pilot screw I had brought with me to show as an example that I noticed the tip had somehow broken off during the trip. I have no idea how as it was just sitting on the seat of my truck.

That's it, I'm scrapping the bike.

Noooo!

I've pilot needles, tuning washers, and orings by the thousands. Seriously, that's the only way to get the price break point.

Find my email address on my website and we'll get you sorted.

 I've seen that multiple times.
The tip is usually still in the carb body
They break off when over tightened, taper 'sticks' in the discharge hole
You can push it out from inside carb
