Need parts advice
« on: August 06, 2013, 08:19:20 AM »
I'm new to the club and restoring a '73 CB750.  I'm looking for recommendations on parts suppliers for engine and forks.  Thanks!

Your local Honda dealer. It will help if you look up the part numbers yourself and give them to the parts guys.

Bike bandit is very good for OEM parts fast.

The Honda dealer is the LAST place to even think of. OVERPRICED BAD.

For stock parts nothing beats OE, buy it once and forget it.  Get them from dealer or online at a large well know retailer.
For Hi-Po engine the guys at APE are great to deal with and have competitive prices.

Forking by Frank http://www.frankmain.qpg.com/ can make you new fork tubes - ya gotta call them.  I noticed cycle-x has them as well now.
For hi-po front end work Racetech is the bee's knees.
It is a proven fact that modifying a SOHC Honda in any way will bring on the apocalypse.

Dude, chill out.

The way you come across in many of your posts makes one think you are PUI all the time.

I have to give dealers some credit.

many sites people mentioned are good but price really varies depending on the items.  I found dealers to be cheaper or pretty much the same, whether they are local or out of states doesn't matter.  It really depends.

The GREAT thing about local dealer is that....if they have something in stock, it's totally worth paying a little extra to get it on the same day.  Plus you can always negotiate.  I would be totally fine paying 10%-20% more to 1) support local economy 2)negate shipping charge 3)get the parts in the same day!!

Some places like  Bikebandit have a point system and I surely did take advantage of that in my early stage of repairing my bike.

My take on it is that....if the price is too cheap, I tend to stay away.  Those places often lack customer service and communication.

For jets go to Jetsrus.com

I've been using bikebandit for the past year and a half. no problems from them.  I recently just placed an order in fact and used the 10 dollars of banditbucks plus free shipping.  Even without that, I have purchased a good bit that is cheaper than getting it from the honda store and a few that were a little more.  While this isn't OEM, I purchased a Shinko 712 for about 15 dollars less than the honda store would have charged. . .plus used the points while at the same time gained 2 more dollars. ;D
