CB350F - Fork Boots?
« on: August 12, 2006, 08:30:58 PM »
I am currently working on a 1972 CB350F and need to know if anyone has found dust boots to fit the forks on this bike. It comes stock with the sheet metal shrouds, which are in bad shape on my bike and I am therefore removing.

I know the forks for the 400F are different, so the boots would not work.

Hey Dude,
I think the rubbers look like crap on a streetbike, just not normal (I  like the external springs though).  I threw away a sweet set of steel ones on my 1969 CB350K and then decided to replace them. I found a set that looked like they had been run over by a truck. But a friend assured me that we could save them, and we did. I used a heavy piece of pipe in a vice for a dolly and I hammered them back to flawless. (with the help of a case of primer) Filled the seams on the ears with primer too. Came out nice

Are you looking for the short stubby dust seals, or the long pleated gaiters?? The gaiters fit in slots in both the ears and the lower legs, so if yours didn't have the slots, they would sort of flap around...the short ones fit in the lower leg slots, too...Someone in the FAQ (I think it was) mentioned that the Rancho brand truck shocks had pleated gaiters that could be cable tied to the fork ears...cut to length, tie off, and from 10 feet away, they looked stock...

But getting back to your bike, you may be able to fit the ears from a later CB500 or CB750 to get the slots in the ears that the gaiters fit into...they're chrome, too - no need to paint...
...stock 1972 CB500 '500 Four' undergoing re-assembly...
...Stock 1972 CL450 'Scrambler' also being re-assembled...
