I stand on the kicker then drop all my weight onto it. Helps with cold starts. Warm starts I can do by hand!

Yesterday, for the first time in I can't even remember I kick started my bike and it started right up.  I have to admit I had a bit of a smile on after that.

If you watch closely you can see my lip bite of determination. I always have a smile on after kicking it over. I kick it all the time. Good start to my ride, and helps me feel more at one with the bike.

I totally agree.  These something special about kicking starting a machine and having it turn over on the first kick is even nicer.

+1. I always kick start my bike - to save battery juice and just because makes the bike feel so antique

But I don't get this "even nicer, if it starts with the first kick". Isn't it supposed to do that all the time? I've never had problems, even in winter at 30°F, to start the bike with the first kick. Maybe it's a maintenance issue... or the 550 is just more eager to start up

Now lets try to define it.

I guess when you have owned as many kick start bikes as I you can start to see subtle differences.  My K3 starts up every time on the first kick.  Have you ever tried to kick an old Harley when the weather was 30 degrees out?  Its all about the technique your using for that specific bike and its different from bike to bike.

Or a 64 Sportster with 12-1 compression and a magneto when it's cold out.  That will give you a good cardio workout.

Yeah I can hand start it when it is warm and not a lot of muscle required. When Cold I don't want to risk pulling the bike over on me! The gif is from a cold start. I put all my weight onto it and it goes first kick.

+10 My first one had the distributor that you adjusted with the left grip like a throttle  no auto advance set that thing wrong and it would kick you back. Plus I was 17 110 lbs I use to turn that grip while riding and think my carb was screwed up Those were the days
