Topic: Why do people resist buying a manual?

I just keep hearing people on the internet say"I looked everywhere on the internet and could not find out how to adjust my cam chain tension (example) ,so I just guessed and did it.??!!!!!

Now my motorcycle makes a bad noise.

The internet is not EVERYTHING!!!!
You need to buy a WORKSHOP MANUAL people. You can buy them on Ebay and you can buy them in motorcycle dealerships.


Stop listening to hearsay and incorrect information.


PLEASE just buy a workshop manual.

Just don't buy the Haynes one, the pics are dark photocopies  and when you wanna know how to do anything it tells you to give the bike to a qualified Honda mechanic    Haven't tried the Clymer but a proper Honda workshop manual is the go if you can find one. Or just get Hondaman's book but you're definitely wasting your dough with the Haynes.

'cause this is the computer age.  I have manuals but prefer to look at it electronically.

I have a manual from Honda4fun, printed and binded in 3 ring folder.  Good place to write notes and such, add bookmarks and post it notes - do it with all vehicles I take care of.

I usually just need a cursory glance, I have really high reading comprehension. Not blowing myself here but I usually only need a glance at something and it is locked up for good. That and it just doesn't bother me to look it up. It isn't like I am reading it cover to cover like a good book

Try a connection in the middle of the mts when your bike stops.
Sometimes to its just flippers.  Someone bought the bike to make money on.

We are men, we don't need directions, maps or manuals!  Did they have manuals on how to build it?  NO!                           Why do we need manuals to fix it?     If at first you don't succeed, get a bigger hammer!   Oh sorry, this isn't the Harley website.

If everyone had a manual and everyone read that manual and followed the directions would there be a need for a SOHC Forum for SOHC bikes? Would any of us know anyone else with a SOHC bike beyond our small corner of the world? Why are you here if not to share your knowledge and help others get their bikes on the road?

I don't even use manual anymore....what's the point of reading manual if we could read the forum?   After all, a lot of reading is good for you.

Honda manuals from FAQ sections are good but have not all details. Example: does not show which rear hub bearing to mount first. This forum has the information. Also different versions of clutches that Hondaman explains very well. l'll by Hondamans book if any.

EXCEPT when it comes to my bike. I like to tinker on everything, but when doing something I've never done before on my bike I always read the manual first.
