I agree, one of those should be "better" atleast, not ends of the spectrum. What ranges are you testing
The dirty girl-1976 cb750k, Ebay 836, Tracy bodykit
Round top carbs w/ 38 pilots, middle needle position, airscrew 7/8ths out, 122 main jet
Stock airbox w/ drop in K&N, Hooker 4-1

Don't trust me alone with a claw hammer and some pliers

Rebuilt carbs, with same issue am running 130 main jet needle position in middle, was running 140 main with no popping but fouling plugs,I think I,'ll go back to 140 don't want to burn up valves, does anyone have 1 140 main jet,I damaged 1 when taking it out,1971 cb750k1

Are you reading these plugs after a plug chop or after a normal ride???  Plus if you use your choke to help start the bike it will tend to show as fouling the plugs. Do a plug chop and then read the plugs , if they are still sooty move your main needle clip UP 1 slot, this will allow LESS fuel to flow!! With the 140 mains.
