I see extreme ape hangers on Harleys a lot here, they look like a handling liability

I've always wondered what would happen if one of those Ape bars snapped while riding.. scary thought.

Thanks guys, they’re definitely “Throaty”, and the one with apes is louder than the other one, they both have Jardine “Big Boss” exhaust systems fitted, but the one with apes has the optional “performance” baffles fitted.

I haven’t really decided what to do with the one with apes yet Eric, my plans to have the registration transferred into my name in February were scuttled by the lockdowns and the PO cancelled the registration in May, so I need to get it re-registered which will involve installing the stock pipes and cleaning it up a bit so it’ll pass an inspection. No biggie, just not on my list of priorities right now. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I don’t know why, but there’s something about a chilly autumn morning that I love to ride. Of course, I have to have good cold weather gear including heated gloves.

Those gloves look good mate, where can I buy a pair? ;D

Thanks Steve-O, that definitely makes it easier to bear. Kawi really nailed it with that bike.

Terry, if I remember correctly I got the gloves from Revzilla. They are insulated and have rechargeable batteries in the gauntlets. You can get a few hours of riding on a charge. Not too bulky. I like’em.

Thanks mate, I'll check them out, I shouldn't need them until next winter, but anything that will ease the arthritis pain on a long ride in winter will be a good thing. ;D

Thanks Alan, Revzilla want $209 for them, or I can buy a new pair on Ebay for $169, or even better, someone's selling a slightly used pair that are currently bid up to $64, but he won't ship internationally, so I can't bid. The ridiculous thing is that I have a US shipping address, but because my primary delivery address is in Australia, Ebay won't allow me to bid.

Looks like I'll be ponying up the extra 100 beans for a new pair. Who knows, it might be a good thing, the seller of the used ones might have had smelly hands, or leprosy, or something....... ;D

Do you want me to bid for you Terry ? no problem:give me a max bid and I'll wait toward the end..
I can ship them to FL. for you if it's a winning bid.

G'Day Bill, that's a really nice gesture mate, thanks for that, but I think I've talked myself into buying new gloves. I don't mind buying used jackets, but gloves? Not so sure...... And of course if they don't work, or the batteries are shot, I can't make a warranty claim, so probably safer to pony up the dough for new ones. ;D

Spotty and I did a nice 140 mile ride today on my two 2300cc Triumph Rocket III's. Spotty is the best part of 7 feet tall and 300 pounds, but the Rocket almost makes him look small. ;D

Ha ha, not surprisingly Bill, riding on the Freeway on the way home, I was riding the ridiculous one with the apes and loud pipes, and folks must have felt a tad intimidated because I was like Moses parting the waves, the cars in front all moved over without me having to do anything. ;D

When I recd. my motorcycle learners permit,it was against the law to ride with 2 motorcycles abreast from each other in the same lane.I had thought maybe you and Spotty were doing that to be more intimidating and to clear the path:both bikes on High Beam !  ;D ;D

I used to own a former unmarked Ford Crown Victoria and it would part the Red Sea of traffic ahead of me as well on the freeways. People didn't know if it was a cop car or not but they moved over like it is was...

Yeah, I had a new Holden work car back in 1999 and used to drive 60 miles up the freeway to work and back every day. It was a plain white car with government plates, and had the same effect, I would always be speeding in the fast lane, and folks in front of me would quickly get out of my way real quick. It was my first company car, and I loved abusing that privilege.. ;D

Mostly.  The Dellorto VHB carbs have the main jets in the bottom nut that holds the float bowl on.   I removed these nuts, and drained the fuel to measure and make sure that the floats were allowing an equal amount of fuel int, which they were.   I then swapped the main jets to see if one was clogged, thinking the problem would move from one to the other if that was the case.   It ran mostly fine after that, still hesitating at part throttle, sometimes.   So, I think there was dirt/crud in the rear one which loosened up when I removed it.   I'm going to tear them down and clean them at some point when I get time.

Well done mate, my other Triumph Rocket III was running like a bag of sh1t on Saturday until we’d done a few miles to blow the crap out, after the bike had been sitting for 8 or 9 months. I put a bottle of injection cleaner in both tanks and we filled them both with fresh fuel, and by the time we’d done a few miles it was running great again. ;D

Yes, all those are currently owned, plus a couple more I hadn't yet added to the list,
1966ish Ducati Sebring 350 Cafe project
1977 CT70 w/ 125 chinese motor

Sadly, most of my "project" bikes will likely remain so for another six years or so until I retire and actually have time to work on them.
