Proper 92 km shakedown run on the Morini this morning.  Travelled through Drouin, Poowong and Strzelecki (Victoria, Australia). The bike didn't miss a beat.  Stopped at an interesting front yard in Poowong (the clown is a nice touch)...

Morinis are big smiles per mile!

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Pre-oil in the frame Triumphs are light weight and quick turning.  They are a lot of fun on mountain roads with tight turns.  Up through 68, the front brake was ineffective.  I upgraded mine to the 1968 twin leading shoe brake.  All that's required is the backing plate, shoes, and different cable.

I'm trying to get in as many rides as possible before the horrible cold weather hits. This is just North of Fumina South (Victoria, Australia), in some beautiful rainforest. A very big and graceful brown bird flew ahead of me at one stage, I'm not sure what it was, but it did make me say "Wow!" out loud.

I get to ride my friend's black 74 to exercise it now and then and take it to bike night. It's a fun ride.

I've always wanted a Morini V-twin.  They are not very common in the US.  The ones for sale are usually very nice and way over-priced, or candidates for a total restoration.

Thanks.   They are sure fun to ride.

About 25 years ago, I traded a basket case 1954 Norton Model-7 to a friend in exchange for a paint job.  The original candy-apple red was faded on top of the tank, and showing the silver base coat.  He did a great job matching the original color.   I had a hot-rod pin-striper redo the pin stripes, using a friend's original Commando sheetmetal as a guide.

Probably the best looking Goldwing made, I had a ‘75 model in 1983, but sadly it was a dog with many issues. I’d swap my 6 cylinder Valkyrie for a good one though, on the few trouble free rides I had on mine, it was a joy to ride. ;D

This one is a '75 as well.   It has been very well cared for by the original owner, who I purchased it from.  I will try to do the same.

It runs very well, though, is not particularly fuel efficient.  I think I'm averaging about 35 MPG.   Maybe it would use less fuel if I rode it more like a cruiser than a sport bike (620 lb sport bike, LOL).

They were a fantastic bike mate, tuebine smooth with great brakes and good ergonomics for a tall rider like me. I don’t think Honda could decide back then whether it was going to evolve into a tourer or a sports bike, although it was pretty heavy so I guess it was best that it continued to evolve as a tourer. I better stop thinking about them, or I might start looking for another one….. ;D

I'm Secretary of the Classic Italian Motorcycle Association of Australia (Vic) Inc.  There are 18 Morini V-twins on historic plates through the club. Considering Victoria has a population of only 6.7 million, I reckon that's pretty good!

It’s a 350 Steve, Morini’s came in 350 and 500cc engine capacities. I had the pleasure of seeing Trevor’s bike collection a couple of weeks ago, and they’re all immaculate. ;D

Yep, only 350cc. However, the handling makes it a very potent weapon in the hills!

It's amazing what a deep clean can do! I really enjoy my garage cleaning time, radio on, sitting on the floor, with a can of furniture spray cleaner and a roll of cleaning cloths...  it's also incredible the difference replacing ancillary items (twist grips, gear change levers, mirrors, rusty bolts, etc) can make.
