Double post time!
Well it was a wonderful pre-spring day today, and I was on a motorcycling mission. I actually got out of bed around 8am, and after a breakfast of eggs and fried tomatoes (from my own garden) on buttered toast, washed down with a cup of joe, I sauntered out to the ol' Tardis to do some work on the mighty 'Wang.
My last episode (re-installing the wheels with the new Stinko whitewalls) resulted in my rear brake caliper crapping out and dumping Dot 4 all over my driveway, so I invested 20 bucks (plus 60 for shipping) on an ebay replacement. It had arrived by the time I got back from working at a Navy base this week, so I got the tools out and after 4 or 5 hours, it was all ready to go. My "Mity Vac" made short work of the brake bleeding, and I was ready to ride.
I'd really only intended to do a short "shakedown" ride, but I ended up doing a quick 150 miler, riding from my place to Yea (pronounced "Yay", not "Yeah") via Broadford. I stopped in at the "Red Plate Cafe", a great place for any biker to stop for a coffee and a snack. The place is run by a biker and his son, and they were keen to give me the 2 dollar tour.
He's got some great bikes in and around his cafe, from vintage BSA slopers to Kawasaki H2 race bikes, Yamaha SR500 Cafe Racer, a Speedway bike, and a nice Yamaha TT500, not to mention the BSA 650 twin and TT500 hybrid motocross bike out the front.
All in all, a great ride, great coffee and "ANZAC" biscuits, (Cookies) and I'll be going back again next ride. Cheers, Terry.
Remember this guy? He co-starred in "Ghost Rider", and his name's Bob.
