So I'm 500 miles into my 900 mile Easter ride on my latest purchase, a Yamaha FJR1300. Now I've owned 7 BMW's over 40 years and I thought they were the best long distance bike in the world, but this thing is just amazing. Not anywhere as heavy as some modern touring bikes, 145 BHP, sports-bike handling and 50 MPG. Sweet.
It's nice not needing to get off my bike due to soreness or fatigue, but only to refuel it every 250 miles or so, or to empty my bladder, which happens way too often nowadays............
Don't get a sore arse captain tez..? Rode the K2 for 430kms today and I thought I'd been at the Mardi Gras with no pants on.....
Ha ha, that's a great description mate, I've had that same feeling many times, and sadly, of the ten bikes I own, this is the only one I can ride for more than an hour at a time and not have a sore butt, even my old Goldwing isn't that good, probably because I'm tall.
The Yamaha has a more "leaned forward" riding position that the 'Wang, and goes around corners like a sports bike, but has the best seat. My first stint in the saddle on Thursday was 2 hours (approx 120 miles) and I only stopped because my bladder wasn't gonna let me go any further.
I was having a ball in the twisties, and I could feel my boots touching down from time to time, but I didn't realise until I looked at them today how much boot rubber I was losing...........
