Great day for a ride today, gonna be sh1t tomorrow but that doesn't matter because I'm flying up to Darwin to do some more Army work. Anyhoo, decided that my big blue Yam needed to stretch it's legs, so did a quick 100 mile ride, then took it over to the storage place to spend some quality time with 3 of my other bikes. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

We just picked up this big 1981' Suzuki GS1100EX with 15052 miles on it for a friend who wants one. It was last licensed in 1990 and we had it running in about ten minutes.

Rode upto Oshkosh on the Z1 Sunday. A little over 200 miles there and back. Performed flawlessly. She doesn't get the mpgs the 750 does though. Here is a few pics from the weekend.

Beautiful pics mate, and we wouldn't expect a Z1 to have the same fuel economy as a CB750, in the same way we wouldn't expect a 350 Chev to have the same fuel economy as a 283. ;D

If it was.... it would probably be boring. I once made the mistake of asking my uncle what MPG’s he gets in his ‘67 Biscayne with a 427. His response... “Who effin’ cares??!!” Nobody buys a classic bike or car with hopes of Prius  mpg’s. Great bike, Tews... congrats!

No doubt Joey!   My buddy has a 283 in his '60 Corvette, but has dual quad carbs bolted on top of it!
That aint no economy car either!

Why would I care about gas mileage of my hotrods and bikes. That's like caring what color the toilet paper is.

When traveling long distance by motorcycle then fuel economy becomes more important, that you know approximately what the range is going to be...

That's not surprising Spotty, but interestingly my FJR1300 with very similar specs is good for 50 MPG at a constant 120 KPH (75 MPH) even with 146,000 miles (234,000 Km) on it's odometer. I was really surprised at how good it was on fuel, and of course it'll happily do 150MPH, if anyone's game to ride at that speed....... ;D

West Virginia

Is that high crash area in Virginia because you have to try and dodge the bullets?

Does the West Virginia side have a high crash area too?

Likely from people crossing the center line...
