Not sure Bill, looks like an old building that was converted to apartments, but appears to be deserted? I liked it, but I'd put a fence around it if it was mine, to stop people parking their bikes out the front to take pics! ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Here you go guys, I actually have 2 Rocket III's. The red and cream one has been in the family since new (2007) and I picked the other one up cheap back in February. When I took the vid last weekend I'd just jump started both bikes because they hadn't turned a wheel since March or April.

The 2006 R3 on the left was missing and farting a bit (smoothed out later) but I took it for a quick lap around the block and it was fine. I need to get it serviced, as the PO wasn't big on maintenance. He, or some previous owner moved the ignition key from in front of the handlebars onto the left sidecover, and did a sh1t job so I might find a good used wiring harness and a new ignition switch and keys, and make it right. More on it later. ;D

Thundering beasts, those!

Thanks mate, they're a handfull around town, but great fun away from the madding crowd. I've just put new tyres on both, and I can't get over how the new Avon's on the red and cream one has transformed the handling. As mentioned earlier I've had the bike since almost new (my brother bought it new, but it scared him so when I bought it 2 years later it had 20 miles on the odometer) and the tyres were 14 years old and had 14,000 Km on them when I replaced them. I remember having to physically push the big baastard into corners the last few rides, but now it just flops into corners like my other bikes, and feels super stable. ;D

Terry,they don't seem too loud.

I guess I'll clarify my comment.  They don't seem loud, but, definitely throaty.  You can tell that they're large CC machines from the sound.

I have to ask Terry are the ape hangers on the red rocket keepers or are you going to go with something lower in the future ?  Did they splice wires etc. to make them work. Getting lowers bars back can be a pain sometimes with that issue and new brake lines etc. etc..

I see extreme ape hangers on Harleys a lot here, they look like a handling liability

I've always wondered what would happen if one of those Ape bars snapped while riding.. scary thought.

Thanks guys, they’re definitely “Throaty”, and the one with apes is louder than the other one, they both have Jardine “Big Boss” exhaust systems fitted, but the one with apes has the optional “performance” baffles fitted.

I haven’t really decided what to do with the one with apes yet Eric, my plans to have the registration transferred into my name in February were scuttled by the lockdowns and the PO cancelled the registration in May, so I need to get it re-registered which will involve installing the stock pipes and cleaning it up a bit so it’ll pass an inspection. No biggie, just not on my list of priorities right now. ;D

I don’t know why, but there’s something about a chilly autumn morning that I love to ride. Of course, I have to have good cold weather gear including heated gloves.

Those gloves look good mate, where can I buy a pair? ;D

Thanks Steve-O, that definitely makes it easier to bear. Kawi really nailed it with that bike.

Terry, if I remember correctly I got the gloves from Revzilla. They are insulated and have rechargeable batteries in the gauntlets. You can get a few hours of riding on a charge. Not too bulky. I like’em.

Thanks mate, I'll check them out, I shouldn't need them until next winter, but anything that will ease the arthritis pain on a long ride in winter will be a good thing. ;D

Thanks Alan, Revzilla want $209 for them, or I can buy a new pair on Ebay for $169, or even better, someone's selling a slightly used pair that are currently bid up to $64, but he won't ship internationally, so I can't bid. The ridiculous thing is that I have a US shipping address, but because my primary delivery address is in Australia, Ebay won't allow me to bid.

Looks like I'll be ponying up the extra 100 beans for a new pair. Who knows, it might be a good thing, the seller of the used ones might have had smelly hands, or leprosy, or something....... ;D

Do you want me to bid for you Terry ? no problem:give me a max bid and I'll wait toward the end..
I can ship them to FL. for you if it's a winning bid.

G'Day Bill, that's a really nice gesture mate, thanks for that, but I think I've talked myself into buying new gloves. I don't mind buying used jackets, but gloves? Not so sure...... And of course if they don't work, or the batteries are shot, I can't make a warranty claim, so probably safer to pony up the dough for new ones. ;D

Ha ha, not surprisingly Bill, riding on the Freeway on the way home, I was riding the ridiculous one with the apes and loud pipes, and folks must have felt a tad intimidated because I was like Moses parting the waves, the cars in front all moved over without me having to do anything. ;D
