when i had vespas the acceptted cure for carboning up was block the small ens, pour a whole tub of caustic soda down the other end followed by a large amount of boiling water and stand ( well ) back, rinse and repeat until no more sh1t comes out, also handy for weed killing in the driveway ( not recommended doing this in the house, much jetting of filthy corrosive fluids all over the kitchen does not make you popular, not to mention losing the ability to breathe in enclosed spaces )
i blame Terry

I can imagine that'll work well to clear those exhausts.

My cousin is an old ex-Suzuki dealership owner and chief (only) mechanic. He used to decoke OEM 2 stroke pipes with his Oxy/Acetylene torch. He'd  fire it up, shove the torch into the header and once the contents of the pipe started to burn, he'd turn the acetylene off and just use the oxygen, and it would take 10-15 minutes for the carbon and old oil etc to completely burn out.

I put the Titan Performance pipes on my bike for much the same reason as Trevor wants higgspeeds for his Kawasaki, I love the sound and the look, but my OEM pipes look like they were dragged down the road for around 500 miles, then stored in a bucket of water for 30 years. They're probably salvageable, but if I don't have to use them, even just to pass the Roadworthy Inspection, I'll be happy. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

Yep.  I had found those and bought them. He begged me to sell them to him. I did. They are quite rare.  They fit his bike better than mine.

Not enough clearance. Ripped the skid plate off first then the pipe both sides.
Really missed that bike. You never forget your first love.

Yeah, I can relate, I probably ride at 50% of the bikes capability. The SOB can really rip! This winter I put a Vortex ECU and Yoshi pipe on it. Haven’t really had a chance to try it out yet.

My XS2

Gorgeous, I've always wanted one. Curious, why do you call it a "2"? 1972 model?  [like K2?]

Today I played one of my favourite games called "Let's get lost"! At a T-intersection in the hills where I usually turn right, I turned left. After a little while it became a well maintained gravel road, which continued on for about 10 km before intersecting a tarmac road. Another 10 km or so saw me enter Thorpdale (Victoria, Australia). If you haven't been to Thorpdale, well, you're not missing much! The road from Thorpdale to Trafalgar was fantastic! I just felt "in the zone", and really enjoyed some high speed sweeping corners.

Rode the H1 500 last week.   The last few times I've ridden it, it has been very easy to start, less than 10 kicks.  This was not the case after the motor was rebuilt about 5 years ago.  My buddy did tell me of a trick that I do now use: turn the petcock to the "prime" position.  [the H bikes use a vacuum activated petcock, the fuel flows unrestricted in that position]
The H1 is such a fun bike to ride!
