I really liked my 75 Wing. Are those exhaust pipes original or repops?

Beautiful wing mate, Goldwings got bigger and fatter as they evolved, but in my humble opinion the first model was the best. I remember my 1975 wing as just being turbine smooth and having great brakes compared to my CB750.

It is definitely turbine smooth.     The brakes are pretty good for a bike of its vintage.

You darn Texans have an advantage on the proper regional dialect !  White is a pretty bad color for showing dirt etc but was my old color. I thought I could also use the rest of the primer and paint on on my house but I used most of a gallon of each on my plywood.  Gray was what I really wanted to do.My dad used that color in gloss on lots of things, basement looked like inside of a battleship !!

Been getting my carbs sorted on 750 knockoff. Did a little 40 mile loop yesterday and I’m almost there.

Still has a little hick up around 6k. More testing later today.

Thanks for all the kind words guys. It’s almost sorted and hopefully gonna get some good rides in on it. Take it some places my other bikes won’t go.

Yes, I built it. it’s an xs650 with a 750 big bore kit. - always loved the triumph Tr6 so I decided to build a knockoff so to speak. If I had a real one(if I could afford it) I’d certainly beat it to death driving it where I plan to take this.  Built it to ride the back roads/dirt roads and up the beach (we have miles of beach dunes and coast line you can ride here).

Couple cleaner pics.

Hard to get the tank to photograph well. It’s got an asymmetrical paint job (as in both sides are completely different) but the same colors. Just looks solid black at an angle though.

It looks great mate. I reminds me of a late model Bonneville that someone has modified, but it's not as porky as a modern Bonny.

I have to agree the XS650 is a good looking motor, but, I prefer the look of the Triumph twins with their characteristic triangular right engine case.

You'd hope so too, Edward Turner designed the Triumph Speed Twin engine in 1935, and Yamaha started making 650 twins 35 years later. Yamaha made no bones about borrowing the look of British twins, but were smart enough to build their own. I have a mate who owns 3 old Triumphs, he usually rides his 2 Honda CB750's, because he likes to look at his Triumph's and ride his Honda's.

I have a few friends who have triumphs, from rat bikes to show builds and with the exception of the one built for a land speed record (he got it too) the xs out performs a triumph in every aspect but style. I would certainly agree the triumph is much more a looker than the xs.

As you can see there are definitely some places where the high shrubs, salt water and sand have left there mark haha.

Very minimal wiring. High/low, tail/brake, neutral and gauges. I did run wiring for signals, just don’t have em hooked up.
